19:30-21:00 - Pranayama & Meditation Workshop

Pranayama and meditation are essential parts of the Ashtanga Yoga practice. Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Ashtanga Yoga guru, said “when the mind is quiet, asana is correct”. Smooth and peaceful breath is the key to the meditative state. When the energy flows smoothly in the channels, the body is relaxing and the minds becomes stable. Then the deeper stages of mind become reachable.

13:30-16:00 - Nadi Sodhana Technique Workshop

Intermediate series positions are done to purify and strengthen the nervous system and energy channels throughout the body. On Saturday afternoon workshop Petri will present the techniques which he learned from his Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during the book project and in his personal studies. Many of them are still unknown for the practitioners, like the right alignments of the body, casing points (drishtis) and vinyasa method. 

 

Nadi Sodhana workshop is best suited for practitioners who have been practicing yoga consistently for several years; however, it offers a fascinating glimpse into a more advanced practice for all who wish to explore yoga beneath the surface.

 

After the workshop, on the book launch, Petri will talk about the book project and tell stories about the book interview sessions with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois and sign the books.

Nadi Sodhana is Petri Raisanen's newly printed English edition of Ashtanga Yoga Intermediate series book, which he wrote from the interviews with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois in 2006-2007. The workshop is part of Petri's Nadi Sodhana world tour.

13:30-16:00 "Healing touch" Asana Adjustments and Therapy Techniques Workshop

Petri was working as a physical and energy healer in the 1990’s in his own healing center in Helsinki, Finland. After becoming a yoga expert, he has been combining the healing techniques with asana adjustments to create a safe, comfortable and beneficial way to touch and adjust the practitioners. In this workshop, Petri will share the techniques from his long research as a healer and Ashtanga Yoga expert through an asana adjustment.

Petri Raisanen:    petri

 

Petri started practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 1988 and teaching in 1990. He is a devoted student of his Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and was authorized to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2001 by Guruji. Petri is careful to pass on his Guru's exact teachings.

 

Petri is co-owner and director of Ashtanga Yoga Helsinki, one of the world's largest Ashtanga Yoga Shalas and author of two Ashtanga yoga books.

 

In his yogic path Petri has studied with many respected Ashtanga Yoga teachers such as Derek Ireland (his first certified teacher), Radha Warrel, Gwendoline Hunt, Lino Miele and Eddie Stern, in addition to R. Sharath Jois and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

 

Petri focuses on integrating healing and therapy with yoga, meeting student's individual needs and guiding their progress. Petri's yoga pose adjustments are gentle, effective, therapeutic and, according to some, almost magical, and originate (besides his own practice and teaching) from his past work as a traditional Finnish folk healer and naturopath.
