Finding the Link between Breath and Movement: A Conscious Breathing with Eric Powell
Generally, we are not aware of our breath(ing), it is an automatic process. During yoga practice, finding the link between the Breath and the Body allows us to examine the natural relationship between the two. Once we begin to understand the connection, our practice becomes infused with a sense of stability, alertness and comfort. This is achieved by joining the Body to the Mind through the Breath.
In this workshop, we will explore the effects of focused breathing on the body and mind as expressed in some common yoga postures and pranayama. This is the second in a series of lessons exploring Yoga as Meditation.

Eric began his yoga practice 30 years ago in Chicago with a wonderful teacher, Suddha Weixler. The studio offered a wide array of classes and styles which continue to inform his teaching. Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha all have made an impact and he is grateful for the experience and exposure that he received at the center. From Chicago, Eric moved to New York City where he met and became both a friend and student of Manju Jois. As his practice has evolved over the years he found himself studying with yet another student of Krishnamacharya, Srivatsa Ramaswami, whose style of yoga he now practices.
