Ashtanga Mysore Sessions & Workshops with Laruga Glaser
Laruga will teach Led and Mysore style self-practice on December 10th – December 14th and Workshops on December 11th & 12th
Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally taught in the “Mysore” style and is the most impactful approach in learning and understanding the practice. The name Mysore is derived from the actual city located in Southern India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois lived, studied, taught and raised his family for most of his life.
Mysore is also deemed as supervised self practice where the āsanas (postures) are introduced and taught, one at a time, so the student can easily memorize the sequence with both confidence and comfort, ultimately building the skills to move through the practice in a way that instills a sense of empowerment, steadiness and calm. In class the student will advance at their own rate with the guidance of an experienced teacher.
All students are welcome in Mysore class. At the heart of this method all levels of experience can impart the teachings of the practice no matter the limitation.

When actively releasing, we experience the use of grounding mechanisms to establish the downward flow of energy while fully utilizing the breath to then be able to expand and deepen. Laruga has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 23 years. Starting at the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches. Laruga has made more than 14 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.
